The Shroomy has quickly made a name for itself in the Ink Chain ecosystem, not just through its own growth but by actively supporting DEX liquidity, new projects, and decentralization. In this interview, we talk with the Shroomy team about their motivations, their vision for the project, and their deep involvement in the Ink Chain.

Beyond that, they share valuable insights on the current crypto market and give 10 essential tips for newcomers who are experiencing their first bull run. Whether you’re a degen, a builder, or just starting out, this interview has something for you.

Interview with Shroomy

Shroomy is a project that made huge @inkonchain. It was created on @squidswap_ink, but later added liquidity pool on @inkyswap. To do this, it bought its own tokens from the market! It also added LP to @USDT0_to on SquidSwap, and cooperates with more and more projects, such as Poseidon, where you can find LPs like that thanks to him! Who is he, what does he want to do on Ink Chain? More on that in the interview:

MrW: I would like to start the interview with you differently, but I can’t ๐Ÿ˜‰ You invest a lot in the project, but also in the whole Ink Chain. You created the Shroomy project, then bought the token from the market at 200k market cap for 12k USD in order to make another LP on inkySwap. As if that wasn’t enough, you created a USDT0/ETH liquidity pool on SquidSwap. Where does such a large involvement come from and who are you?

ShroomyDev: We believe that as founders, it is our duty to ensure the survival of the project from its inception and to safeguard the investments of our early supporters. We did not reserve any tokens for ourselves, so naturally in order to bootstrap liquidity we have to acquire tokens somehow. We do this either through buying on the open market or by making deals with what we like to call benevolent whales, who agree to sell us SHROOMY tokens over the counter (OTC).

As for the USDT0/WETH liquidity pool on SquidSwap, we did this because we wanted to support the team and facilitate healthy competition among the DEXes. Squidtoshi Snackamoto has proven himself to be a man of good character and faith, and we salute this. We have further plans to provide liquidity on other platforms too – stay tuned.

We are the mycelium. We are everyone and no one. We have been in crypto for well over a decade. We are of course intensely passionate about the powerful healing effects of the psilocybe mushrooms , but we also recognize that local laws vary and so we repeat the words of the great mycologist Paul Stamets – “Nature provides, I don’t”. We assess with high confidence that legislation will almost certainly change around the world within the next five years. So for now our mission is to build, educate, and have fun while doing so.

MrW: What is Shroomy supposed to be? What is the plan for the project?

ShroomyDev: Shroomy the character is half mushroom half squid. But I think you mean about the project in general. It’s an ideologically-motivated passion project that seeks to introduce crypto enthusiasts to the majestic kingdom of fungi, and fungi-lovers to crypto. We’re not here to make money for ourselves. Indeed, anyone can check our wallet (shroomydev.eth) and see how quickly that all disappears ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just as the mycelium spread outward in all directions, we don’t intend to follow a linear roadmap. On our website we list five core tenets that guide what we do: Community, Fun, Value, Education and Impact. Since our development is self-funded through a bounty program, we’re able to move quite quickly and flexibly. Our ultimate goal is to provide an appealing gateway into crypto for the millions of fungi-lovers out there busy touching grass. And at the same time, to offer a peaceful refuge to those who have lost themselves in their quest to make it from moonshots. We firmly believe that getting caught up in watching charts and riding round the degen circus all day can destroy lives, or at least condemn lost souls to the path of further ruin. Thus we want to offer a more balanced alternative where everyone can have fun together.

As for specific development goals and use cases for the SHROOMY token, we prefer to stealth launch certain things rather than hyping them up ahead of time. We don’t want to over-promise anything before delivering, and so we hope that the finished products will speak for themselves.

MrW: Where did the idea for the launch on Ink Chain come from? What do you think about it?

ShroomyDev: The Shroomy founders have quite busy lives, so we only happened to learn about the existence of Ink Chain through /biz/ threads some weeks after the initial launch. The chain has a lot of credibility being under Kraken’s wing (or tentacles, perhaps?) and there is a lot to be said about early mover advantage. We were initially quite disappointed with the on-chain offerings as some noxious /biz/ groups brought in their toxicity and belched it all over a bunch of projects trying to get off the ground. Nothing motivates you to launch your own project like being frustrated with the current ecosystem.

Fast-forwarding to today, we are much more optimistic that infrastructure is being built and credible projects are emerging on top. It’s very early days still, and it’s difficult to predict exactly how things will shape up in the weeks and months ahead.

MrW: What are your plans regarding your overall involvement on Ink Chain?

ShroomyDev: We have juicy liquidity on all the leading DEXes: starting with SquidSwap, we then bootstrapped pools onto InkySwap and Velodrome. This makes us omnipresent and gives users the freedom to choose their DEX of choice. We also appreciate how SuperSwap aggregates all of our liquidity pools and provides the best rates with no risk of falling victim to opportunistic arbitrageurs.

Our plan is to stay actively engaged in the Ink ecosystem and to help other promising projects hit the ground running where we can. We’re doing a fun little crossover with Poseidon for example. We have no communication with the Ink team itself, nor have we tried to contact them, but they are welcome to get in touch if they see value in our project. The scope of our involvement on Ink will also be shaped by community sentiment.

MrW: What do you think about the condition of the entire crypto market? What threats and opportunities do you see in the near future?

ShroomyDev: We would say that the inauguration of President Trump has ushered in a real paradigm shift for crypto. But it’s difficult to say how much action is priced in already. We see equal upside and downside in the short term, but are bullish over the next 2 – 4 years. Those who have been around for the previous cycles will recognize that crypto tracks the wider markets much more closely than it once did. There’s too much institutional money in crypto now for BTC to get nuked by 50% overnight for example.

The key threats on the horizon are: strict EU regulation, black swan events, and quantum computing breaking encryption.

The key opportunities are: liberal US regulation, Cypherpunk philosophy going mainstream, and Ink exploding with exponential growth.

MrW: What would you advise people who are just starting out with crypto, this is their first bull market, maybe their first contact with a new chain from the very beginning.

ShroomyDev: Here are our top 10 Shroomy crypto tips for newcomers:

  1. Your first goal should be to not lose money. Your second goal should be to beat inflation. Your third and final goal should be to win enough to buy freedom for your body and mind.
  2. Don’t invest more than 10% of your net worth into low-cap degen tokens. Don’t trade more than 10% of your portfolio in a single trade. Don’t spend more than 10% of your day watching charts.
  3. Understand that if you connect your wallet to a malicious website, bot or other service, and then sign a transaction, you could lose all of your money.
  4. Use Rabby wallet not Metamask. Rabby is superior in every way and offers much better security warnings and protections for new users.
  5. For DeFi tokens on Ink, pay attention to the amount of WETH in liquidity, not the market cap value. The latter is almost meaningless, whereas the former represents the actual value of the liquidity pool. New tokens only have notional value because they are paired with WETH.
  6. Whenever you feel most anxious and compelled to sell, it’s probably the worst time to do so. The same applies to buying. Whenever you feel the FOMO to buy, try turning the chart upside down and asking yourself “would I want to sell here?”. And vice versa.
  7. Learn what a double-top formation is. Almost every new launch predictably follows this pattern before either reducing to nothing or rising again. It’s fractal, too, so be sure to zoom out.
  8. Do your research before buying any low-cap token. You don’t want to be in a situation where any one of a dozen whales could nuke the chart on a whim. This is a common scenario and it doesn’t end well. Try to identify what the average buy-in of all circulating tokens is. If 80% of tokens are in major profit, it’s probably going to dump until it normalizes closer to 50%.
  9. If you find a project you like, the most effective way you can contribute to its success is by organically recommending it to people you know. The world of crypto marketing is full of scams and snake oil, so peer to peer vouches go a long way to stimulate new growth.
  10. Be in control of your funds by self-custodying onto a reputable hardware wallet. Don’t be that guy or girl who keeps their entire life savings in a browser extension without any backup.

Thank you very much! And thank you for buiding @inkonchain
